Cartoons!!

Holiday season is here..

I do not celebrate Christmas so I got a lot of time to spare. I thought I explore the world of cartoons.. Making cartoon version of myself to be more precise.. :D Hmm, maybe I should go back at drawing manga characters once more to kill time..

Anyways, I found out that there were many websites out there in the web that allow you to create cartoon version of yourself for free.. Awesome!! There were the usual 'create your avatar' and more interesting ones like - "simpsonize yourself" and "make your own southpark charater".. Wow.. It was fascinating to see that one can actually see how they look like in those popular cartoon shows on TV.. I am a Big fan of Simpsons!!

This my avatar I created a long time ago in yahoo.. I stopped using yahoo messenger a long time ago and used msn instead as such, I didn't get to see and use this avatar till just now when I logged onto yahoo avatar..

This is a simpson version of me!! Even though, this did not look like me one bit.. I still liked it.. maybe I would make my appearance in the Simpsons.. Though I bet that it would be a very slim chance to have a popular guest star with that exact same character version of him..

This would be my southpark character.. Well, I hope I do not offend any of the southpark fans out there.. Frankly, Southpark characters look all the same to me.. :) As such, I just matched my skin colour to that of the character and I decided to just go crazy on this one.. :D I wanna be a Jedi knight!!Fighting with my light saber in one hand and the other for using the force.. hahaa..

This would end my exploration.. Probably should get back to my preparations for GAMSAT.. Cheers.. Happy Holidays!!

Corrinne May ~ song writer and singer..

I love piano songs.. Corrinne May is one of my favorite in my list..

I would like to dedicate this music video to all Mothers who had willingly sent their child away from their side.. knowing that their future is better off elsewhere.. This include, mothers who had put up their children up for adoption, mothers in war-torn countries who had given up their child to let them live in refugee camps.. and closer to me.. mothers who had sent their children abroad to allow them to chase their dreams...

I know its a huge sacrifice to see your children leave.. I can't imagine the pain and sadness of such a scene as I am only the child and can never be the mother.. Hats off to those mothers and even mothers to be.. I am truly grateful to you, Mother.. Take care and I see you soon..

MedRad PubCrawl 2 for 2008

The MedRad Pubcrawl is a twice a year social event held by the MedRad society. That was my first time attending one. It was great fun.. Even though I don't drink.. It was fun to hang out with everyone in my course. The theme for this particular Pubcrawl was "Characters" where everyone was supposed to dress up. Well, I didn't dress up unfortunately.

There were "Bananas in pyjamas, fairies, harry potters, witches, mario, cheerleaders, and frankly, the best one for that night would be stitch from 'lilo and stitch' and a green dinosaur.. (see below)

The green dinosaur and stitch costume were very cute.. Reminded me of those bear costumes you purchase from the'make your own bear parlours' for your teddies however, instead of those cute bears we got cute girls in them.. Awesome.. =)

RiverFire 2008

August 30th, 2008 - RiverFire

It was a splendid display of fireworks... Not only there was fireworks along the Brisbane river.. But there were even fireworks placed strategically on top of a number of buildings within the CBD to light up the whole city.. It would be an awesome sight if you were on the 'Brisbane Eye' in South bank.

The air show was great too.. To complement the fireworks, aircraft flew with flames behind them and that lit up the night sky.. You could see them as those bright streaks running across the picture above..

However, I did not managed to get a good view of the fireworks display that night.. As always, I got turned off by the massive crowd. The crowd had been there since about 4-5pm that day just to wait for the fireworks display at 7pm. Wow.. I wished I could have their patience.. =)

Anime.. (ef - a tale of memories..)

Dear Anime fans..

Exams are over and I got all the time in the world to unwind and relax for the next 3 weeks or so.. I was browsing through my Anime collection and decided to watch some of the series again.. Ef - a tale of memories.. One of my favorites among my list of school life romance titles.

The Anime ran 2 concurrent stories in one.. One of them involves the typical love triangle while the other revolves around a guy who loves a girl who suffered trauma to her head which result in memory lapses.. She will forget everything that had happened to her from the following day! everyday! This does sound familiar right.. It was adapted from a similar concept in Adam Sandler's movie - '50 first dates' in 2004.

All in all.. Personally, the Anime was great. It even managed to draw out a tear or two out of me.. Totally awesome... Catch it if you are free.. Its a short Anime. Only 12 episodes in total.

I added episode 1 as a preview.. Enjoy!!

Shave your head for a good cause...

I was soo stressed out yesterday.. I had put up with my hair poking into my eyes long enough.. I felt that it was time for a hair cut.. Unfortunately, I did not have the experience or have the skill to cut my own hair.. I tried at first.. but it did not turn out well.. so there was one simple solution.. A shaved head.. :D Luckily I got a friend at that time to help me out..

Heard of the Australia Greatest Shave, Save Leukaemia Foundation?? I always wanted to register and have my head shaved for a good cause.. But I somehow never gotten the courage to join.. (Maybe its cos of the fee).. Well, it was an easy task anyway, something possible for a DIY fix.. Thus, I did it at last..

Another plus point, I could use my head to practice surface anatomy and understanding the radiographic positioning of the skull.. It was a small sacrifice for a greater good.. hahaha..

Anyways, Hair will grow back.. this is just temporary.. :)

Buddha Fest...

It was Buddha Fest a weekend ago and I thought I walked over to SouthBank to have a look around and see a lil bit of culture.. Pretty colourful occassion.. The whole place were lit up with lanterns.. Nice.. :) It was a 2-3 day long affair.. I didn't go for the whole event unfortunately.. so I missed out on their fireworks display.. Shucks..

Continued my walk to West end.. Just felt like walking that day.. and to my horror I saw this...

Gosh.. It looked like a prop for a hunted house.. Ghastly!!.. The whole top end of the lampost was covered in cobwebs.. Even the sign next to it was engulfed by the cobwebs.. No wonder the lights around the area were soo dim.. All the lampost in that area were in the same state..

Krispy Kreme in Brissie.

Krispy Kreme Donuts are finally in Brisbane!!!

Everyone seems to be flocking to the shop to get their hands on the donuts there when it first opened a few days ago.. The queue is CRAZY~~~ the security arsenal was complete with bouncers standing in front of the entrance for crowd control and all.. Gosh.. and I thought KIASUISM only exist in Singapore..

Anyways.. I did not join the queue just for donuts even though they were giving free donuts to those who were in the queue waiting.. I rather do something else than join the queue.. Besides that, I did eventually got my hands on a dozen of those donuts on a much less crowded time..

My favourites.. Strawberries and cream donuts and custard filled chocolate donuts..

Bulgarian Music Idol Contestant..

This Bulgarian Music Idol contestant - Valentina Hassan was attempting to sing her rendition of 'Without You' by Mariah Carey.. I apologise to the Mariah Carey fans out there but not to worry, I include Mariah's response to the song for you guys too alright.. Enjoy!

Mariah's response -
"Look,i don't know who .. anybody could sing this,I have to say, anybody who has a nerve to go to any one of these shows and infront of the whole world to sing, you know, i just have to give a clap to them. Yay for anybody whos got that much, umm..hootspa"

She responded very well, I really liked her smile after giving her comments.. truly inspiring to those who can't sing and just try to say out phonetically correct words of the lyrics.. especially if the song is in a foreign language.. My hats off to Valentina Hassan singing Ken Lee with her full confidence and all.. Truly entertaining.. Such idol shows would be boring if there weren't any contestant with her 'talent'.

Keeping Touch..

The past few weeks have been a little rough on me.. Getting trodden all over by Pathology and ravaged by developmental osteology and athrology. My only salvation is to indulge in my little rambles through the events of life..

These days, I have been thinking about the actions we could take to keep or maintain relationships from a faraway distance. I did ask around and here is my2 cents worth..

The following are what were on my list; (some are funny but I assure you these are real...)

1) Chat with them every night. Make sure to include an account regarding every move or event. Be as complete as possible.. Include the description of one's breakfast, lunch and dinner. Remember that this is a thorough account and so, details of the surroundings needed to be included too. Especially regarding the company one was with for a particular event. Looking at this, made my memories of reporting my duties to my drill sergeant less traumatic.. =)

2) Watch a movie together! Surprising as it may sound.. It is possible.. Even though both parties are like a miles away, you can be together in 'spirit' or 'mind' by doing the same thing at exactly the same moment. Both parties could rent/download a movie and synchronously watch the movie together by hitting the play button at the same time.

3) Put the webcam on 24hrs 7 days a week. The idea would be something similar to the concept in the movie 'The trueman show" acted by Jim Carey or the more locally acclaimed - "Big Brother". One could talk and see each other anytime of the day and the best thing of them all is that you could see each other sleeping at night.. How Romantic!! Make sure to get a good ISP for this one.. =)

After it all, it got me thinking...
Man.. No wonder I couldn't maintain a relationship if its being tested by distance.
I don't think I could ever do any one of those things.. Hahaha..

For those who actually did those things as I listed above.. I hope you don't get offended alright.. I intend it to be a harmless fun.. In fact, KUDOS to you.. I admire your unflagging efforts and the commendable commitment to a relationship..

=)

Music track of the moment...

I was flipping through my CD collection today and felt like listening to the songs by The Cranberries in their Bury The Hatchet Album... I really like the band.. There are meaning behind their songs.. Song choice - Animal instinct..

The song was actually about a mother who is under great financial crisis and according to the law in some states, she would have to give up her kids since she could not afford to bring them up.. It is a nice title to encompass the actions taken by the mother in getting her children back.

Gosh.. I can't imagine how distraught a mother would be if someone where to actually take their children away.. HELPLESSNESS... Utterly depressing.. Anyway, enjoy the music video of the song choice and give me comments about it if you like.. =) Unfortunately, the video is actually a mirror image somehow.. hahaha.. Pretty strange eh..

Easter Holidays..

It was that time of the year where easter eggs, hot cross buns and parties become a much familiar sight wherever you go in the city. Not forgetting my friends of the Christianity faith, it's the time for the remembrance of Jesus for them.. As for me, Easter holidays is just like any other holiday... away from the university.. away from all the crunching hours in laboratories and lectures..

What is left behind after taking away all the uni routine is just boredom on my part..

Such an uneventful day today.. I practically cleaned my whole house today.. Even pick dirt and hair off my carpet by hand today so as to fill in the gaps between my study time.. GOSH.. Can one be more pathetic than that?

To end the day, I ended up doing something I loathe in my whole internet culture life.. I updated my PROFILE in friendster and facebook.. GOSH.. the last time I came up with the profile was at that time when I actually set my account up which was like in 2001 or 2002.. SAD =(

I hope tomorrow will be a better day.. Don't think I want to pick out hair from my carpet or update my profile any time soon.. (T-T) -sob, sob

The joy of having a child around..

Having children around can be such a joy.. Eventhough they require quite a lot of energy and time, they are worth all the effort.. Just look at those cute eyes and funny actions.. The joy of having them is nothing comparable.. Shucks.. Shouldn't take all these from me who doesn't have a kid of his own.. Hehehe..

Well, anyways.. just have a look at the video.. Beats being home alone doing nothing.. =) Enjoy a good laugh!

Random Pictures of Brisbane

Kinda bored one day and decided to have a walk in the City..

Walked to the Queensland Performing Arts Theatre, and saw a nice display that was made out of cardboard.. Pretty simple looking.. Reminds me of an art piece a child would have asked the parent to do for a school project.. Tsk Tsk Tsk.. However, I still like it though.. Kinda nostalgic somehow.

Continued my trip along to Chinatown.. Kinda nice to see the typical Chinatown gateway.. It was quite a sight.. Lanterns hung down from the gate with its elaborate design and colours..

Museum of Brisbane (MOB) at night..
Nothing really majestic about this.. but it reminded me of the Supreme Court of Singapore.. those tall columns in front.. Palm trees around its boundaries.. Only difference will be the watch tower..

Brisbane reminds me of Singapore soo much.. There are places similar to Raffles City, City Hall etc.. the only exception will the beaches here.. They are thousands times nicer than Pasir Ris Beach, East Coast Beach or Siloso Beach.. Will get pictures of the beaches next time.. Love the beaches here.. Lovely waves.. white soft sands.. and it squeeks when you walk on it =)

Supreme Court in Singapore at night.. (for comparison)

My new place..

I finally got to stay in my own apartment now even though it's just a Studio.. I am glad to have my own bathroom!! Yeay.. No more communial showers for me.. :)

This is how my place looks like as you step in from the front door.. Kinda humble.. Enough room for a single person..

This is my cooking area.. Got to be careful with the cooking there.. If the smoke alarm goes off and there happen to be no fire.. It will be a $890 fine.. We don't want that to happen do we.. I know some of my friends who got fined.. Sorry guys..

That's the hallway we walked through as we enter the front door.

My working area.. Nothing else to say abt that.. Just that its the place where I spend most of my days.. (in front of my com.. ) *grinz*

The sink in the bathroom..
The mirror is huge... A must place to visit everyday.. Unless on days where I am sick and decide to stay in bed for the whole day.. Hehehe..

The toilet and the shower cubicle.. :)
This time they are all mine.. No more cleaning up after peoples' mess.. Yeay..

Dear Mr President... why are you as such?

One of my favourites.. A shout out to the President of America.. WAKE UP~~!!! Stop being a joke and perform your duties like a normal president.... PLEASE.. I know the world is your stage.. but try to show a lil less of those comical theatrics... (see clip below)..

Well, anyways.. Its been good fun to have a 'cool' and 'funny' president.. but not one that runs a nation..

Updates on Clinicals...

I have gone through almost 4 weeks of my clinicals up till now and I am really looking forward to going back to Brisbane. I am excited to resume my normal life as a jovial uni student with little concern with'office politics' in the hospital. Anyway, I could'nt care less about such petty politics. I am just a student who is there to observe after all. :D thank God!!

The past 4 weeks have been quite challenging for me. I have learnt how to deal with a number of difficult patients during those times. Thus far, I have had the experience in dealing with little kids, authistic kids, HIV positive patients, criminals, patients who could just cry on you without any provocation, patients with generalised paraplegia and even patients who were utterly rude and abusive. It has been a colourful past 4 weeks and I don't wish for it to be any more colourful than it already has. I am already known as a 'Bully' in the department. Shucks.. and I thought I am such an angel.. :p

Work just keep piling up on me.. Even when I am away in Tasmania for my clinicals, I have work set out for me waiting for my attention when I return to Brisbane this coming 25th Feb. Gosh~ When can I ever take a break.. I do deserve a holiday right.. :p I have been a really good boy... *grins* I am going to start counting down my days to my winter break.. Can't wait to go for a holiday in Adelaide.. Wait for me Adelaide! I will be there soon enough..

Anyways, time to retreat. Another day in the hospital tomorrow.. Starting at 8am.. Shucks.. I hate those 8am datelines.. Too bad I do not have a choice.. Sigh..

Run Forest.. Run!!!

Running and jogging is such a painful exercise.

I am not refering to the pain I get in my legs and knees.. But, it is such a pain to be discipline and follow an exercise schedule especially when it involves running or jogging.. Sigh..

I am guilty of postponing my running schedule many times.. what a disappointing record! I need more discipline.. Where is an army Physical training sergeant when I need one? :p Well, anyways.. I am not regretting any decision of mine whatsoever during those times when I "forgot" to do my exercise.. I got other things that needed my attention then.. How convenient.. :)

Signing off...
The 'flubby-tubby' procrastinator.

Clinicals...

Whinging...

It was the time of the year where I am scheduled for clinicals as part of my practice. I will be down for a 5 week long clinical placement and I barely survived my first week. Another 4 weeks!! Wished time would pass by quickly then...

Clinicals could be great fun for the first-timers... But to a veteran, it's not that all great. It's not that I am unmotivated or uninterested. It's just that I find the thought of working without any form of remuneration quite pathetic. It's all part of practice they say!! *sigh* At least give me some subsidy for my accommodations or something.. I am just a poor student after all, who have to stinge to make ends meet. (Please feed me.. :D)

Thank god that I do not have to do shifts or weekends. That's a relief. I am tired as I am already with this current load..

I am just a whinner :P

Apology in a snazzy song..

Nice pitch for an apology...

A nice one to be sung to your dearie when you had made her seriously mad. Maybe I should keep this one in my bag for future use.. *winks*

Doc Ock VS Spiderman

Gone fishing...

Recently I have gotten into the fever of line fishing. Line fishing is actually quite an inexpensive sport. You just have to look at it as a form of investment. Spend a decent amount on a functioning rod and a tackle box with a sufficent amount of equiptment and you are off. Go get all the fish and squids you want. All that could hold you back is time and patience.

Up to date, My tally is 5 mackerels, 1 calamari, 1 aerohead squid and 3 octopuses.. and a number of flatheads.. I am kinda heads up with the number of octopuses though.. :D Takoyaki anyone??

If anyone out there know of any nice dishes or delicacies that uses octopuses. Drop me a comment. I love to try them out. But, no octopuses ice-cream please!! I am not kidding.. the Japanese have them in their ice-cream!!
